Frustration

I dislike calling the post “Frustration” today, but I also have to be truthful about how we have been feeling lately.  We have been frustrated about Craig denying us access outside.  (They still will not let Taylor go outside.)  We have been frustrated that Taylor has to take high doses of magnesium, which is making her sick.  They have put in an I.V. to deliver the magnesium intravenously, which should not make her nauseated like the oral magnesium.  Yesterday, the I.V. was fine, but today Taylor said it burned when they used it.  She was poked 4 times before they got another I.V. in (more frustration).  The good news is that she was not nauseous today and was able to eat and attend all of her classes.  She even went down to the Rec Room for an activity to make a flower arrangement (which she said was for me – very sweet).

Another piece of good news is that Craig ordered a life vest (a defibrillator built into a vest that one wears under clothes) so that Taylor can go outside and have her heart be protected.  This is the only condition under which the doctors will let her go outside.  The vest does not seem too bulky, but does seem a little uncomfortable.  We are hoping that this can be set up soon so that we can have some outside time this weekend.

  1. Thinking of you today! You popped into my head at the end of my cycling class (soul cycle) when exhaustion set in, and I thought, ‘C’mon Taylor!’ Hope you received come of the strength I created today. Your progress continues to be an inspiration, but not a surprise 🙂

  2. Everyone is allowed to be frustrated and you’re earned this post. Here’s hoping that there is outside time very soon!

  3. Sending love from Santa Monica. I hope today is better than yesterday.

  4. Hi Kit,

Thinking of Taylor and your family. Wow, I’m surprised that Craig is still refusing outside time. You and I definitely know how vital that is, and I was just looking up some articles on ‘treating the whole patient’. Seems that they could take that into account more. I’m glad they’re getting that vest, and I wish you all progress on that. In thinking about Taylor’s Perfect Healing, I’m going to hold her care givers and where she is in that mental space, and hold that her entire experience is advancing and healing. Also, wishing you a beautiful and much-deserved Mother’s Day weekend!

  5. Kit, I’m sorry these last few days have been frustrating for Taylor (and for you and John). I hope she gets the life vest soon so that you can all go outside and enjoy the spring weather. In the meantime, persevere. As Churchill said, “When you’re going through Hell, keep going.”

  6. I am missing you Taylor. I will be back this weekend. i am still fighting off the dregs of a cold. plus, it was a crummy week at work. Do you know the arctic monkeys song “do I wanna know”. I like it. I will play it for you Sunday, if you haven’t heard it. See you soon, Aunt Erika.
